Lot #298 - 1896 Aluminum 5C J-1772 CACG PR-64
Patterns-Patterns
Judd-1772, R.6+ and extremely rare in any state of preservation. It appears that perhaps as few as 40 unique grading events have occurred between the major services over the past forty years. Pollock lists four different aluminum alloys, but no metallurgical analysis has been indicated on the CAC slab. Extensive hairlines appear to represent die polish but the planchet allow shows some anomalies lower left of the shield and a small planchet flake far left on the reverse.

Wholly original surfaces sporting dusty hues are readily apparent when looking at this foursome of PCGS certified classic commemorative halves that have all been graded as MS-65. Mostly white and bright surfaces along with problem free fields make each of these adequate representations for the assigned grade. The four examples included in this group lot are a 1918 Lincoln, a 1936-S Columbia, a 1936 Lynchburg and a 1936 Elgin (ck).
