  • Lot #819 - 1946 NGC MS-67 Star CAC
  • Quarter Dollars-Washington
  • Sandra Wilson Algiers Estate. Sandra Wilson Algiers Collection. 2 graded MS-67 "star", 4 higher at NGC. While a common date in general, 1946 with a "star" is truly a rare find at NGC (and today's sale contains nearly half of NGC's entire population). Here is an outrageous example that not only puts forth mind-boggling eye-appeal but also possesses incredible technical attributes right down to a virtually complete absence of contact marks. Shockingly bright emerald-green, ruby-magenta, deep violet and sunrise-gold hues douse the entire obverse, with maximum emphasis on emerald-jade vibrancy, while similar Crayola hues enshroud the reverse with priority given yolk-gold color.

  • Lot #486 - 1912-S NGC MS-64+
  • Hammer: $8,500
  • Gold $10-Indian Head Eagle
  • 8 graded MS-64+, 11 higher at NGC. The lower mintage of 300-thousand seems to lead directly to extreme rarity at or just below the gem grade level. One would expect to see this incomparably pristine and lustrous example in a gem holder if not for one small constraint -- a minute shiny abrasion out in front of Liberty's lips. The fields on both sides offer texture that is somehow at once both satiny yet semi-granular, the result being a coin with vigorous energy when viewed under a good lamp.

Excellent condition with a dark patina to the metal. 5.59 troy ounces.
