  • Lot #671 - 1885-CC NGC MS-67
  • Silver Dollar-Morgan
  • 134 graded MS-67, 6 graded MS-67 "star", 18 higher at NGC. While not unheard-of in the superb-gem grade level, and Morgan dollar meeting such lofty grading standards warrants celebration. A borderline perfect strike brought up intense matte frost and, of course, outrageously attractive luster. While the cheek remains expectantly free from any mentionable abrasions, a brief linear mark lands on the bottom of the neck.

  • Lot #365 - 1859 Old Reverse - Type 1 NGC MS-60
  • Hammer: $1,600
  • Gold $2.50-Liberty Head Quarter Eagle
  • The reverse die seen on this type-1 example, with larger arrowheads, was discarded in 1859 for subsequent strikings of type-2 quarter-eagles. Here is a rather delightful example given the basal and severely underutilized mint-state grade of MS-60, showing unexpectedly nice multihued golden color and no evidence of circulation. Simple bag storage apparently accounts for the trivial flaws and delicate abrasions seen throughout.

  • Lot #309 - Native American Squash Blossom
  • Hammer: $550
  • Jewelry-Silver
  • Circa 1960/1970 and signed by Bobby Thompson of the Navajo nation, this sterling silver (tested, not marked) and turquoise squash blossom necklace features 10 blossoms set between seamed beads and a 5-stone Naja at the bottom. The turquoise cabs are set in a shadow box setting and while most of the background has been blackened nicely, a couple panels need a touch up of color. The turquoise used in the making appears to be from the Sleeping Beauty mine. Condition is very nice for its age with a vintage patina to the metal. Length 30”, 5.54 troy ounces
