Gem Uncirculated examples litter this nineteen-coin group lot of Morgan silver dollars that have been “graded” by NTC, PCI, and CRC. Ther is a beautiful mixture of gorgeously toned and blast white examples that have all been assigned lofty grades that most would consider a bit too high based on current grading standards. Included in this eye catching group lot are the following issues: an 1879-O PCI MS-65, an 1880-O NTC MS-65, an 1880-S NTC MS-68, an 1881-O NTC MS-66, an 1882-O NTC MS-65, an 1883-O NTC MS-67, an 1884-O NTC MS-67, an 1885-O NTC MS-67, an 1887-O NTC MS-66, an 1888-O NTC MS-66, an 1889-O CRC MS-63, an 1891-O NTC MS-65, an 1898-O NTC MS-66, an 1899-O NTC MS-67, a 1900-O NTC MS-67, a 1901-O NTC MS-67, a 1902-O NTC MS-67, a 1904-O NTC MS-67, and a 1921 NTC MS-67. Scott Laiter Collection. While sometimes found prooflike, this is a fully frosted and impressively preserved Carson City that yields all of the appearance of mint-state, right down to flowline effect all the way through the fields -- admittedly diminished just barely by touch friction. In years past, this coin was undoubtedly sold as UNC. Telltale signs of wear, if one is being honest, include a small, visibly worn spot on Liberty's cheek and exceedingly faint butterscotch accents on the highest raised portion of several hair strands. While many marks spill across both sides, most appear to be bagmarks, joined by very little evidence of circulation contact.
