Included are: 1899 (steamy patina over gorgeous golden hue and enjoying a fantastic strike), and 1932 (the usual very good strike complemented by confident luster, although a few tiny greenish verdigris dots must be noted). Gold $20-Liberty Head Double Eagle
163 graded MS-62, 20 higher at NGC. Although the final Carson City twenty is also one of the most common, hardly any meet true choice consideration although this very select example truly comes close. Liberty's cheek is not nearly as abraded as one might expect of the grade, and only faint scruffy areas show within the fields -- invisible except under specific viewing angles. Bright golden yellow hue emanates from beautifully frosted fields and unlike many double-eagles that tend to have a nicer reverse compared to the obverse, this coin appears equally attractive as viewed from either side. An exceptional strike also falls well within gem expectations.
