Large Cents-Draped Bust
Sheldon-266, die-state IV, the 1804 date obviously a key and even more elusive due to how many collectors pursue S-266 by die-state. For this bold example, rim breaks show plainly over RTY and MERIC. Dies are rotated by about 20 degrees for a coin that makes the cataloger's grade of [XF/corrosion removed], and the surface has been rather nicely recolored with chestnut-brown patina that has olive inflections on the reverse.

A date moderately difficult for the grade. Crisp medium-gold hues enwrap both exteriors. Incused frost is especially pronounced into the face of Chief. Minor grazing is found left and north of eagle, somewhat unavoidable for the type due to its inversed relief.
