101st Airborne Collection. A group of Standing Liberty quarters was recently extracted from the consignor's Dansco collection, as all the other pieces are circulated. Included are: 1917-D type-2 (MS-62 and extremely original toning that looks much like mint-set patina), 1919 (UNC/FH but showing hazy surfaces), 1925 (Ch BU), 1926-D (UNC but not well struck and showing album color), and 1928 (Ch BU/FH and with attractive turquoise iridescence clinging to the devices. At first glance, the quality seems much superior to MS-62, and even careful scrutiny will find only the most trivial abrasions, about the size of flea specks. MS-64 almost seems like a possibility until one discovers light hairlines erratically scattered within the fields, albeit they are clearly toned down by the attractive yellow-gold color. Almost fully struck and showing a nice, sharp "D" mintmark on the reverse.
