Half Dimes-Liberty Seated
No drapery. Aluminum-grey patina endows much of the surface, allowing the half-dime to face up basically as a brilliant type coin. There are no surface disturbances, such that the grade gets determined only by the presence of faint highpoint friction.

Lot #418 - 1807 Bust Left NGC MS-62

Gold $5-Capped Bust to Left Half Eagle
Bass-Dannreuther-8, by far the more available of two die marriages dated 1807. Not only is this "the right" variety to pick for type purposes, but in a competent grade of MS-62, one doesn't miss out on much as compared to a mere point's upgrade. This example features acceptable, slightly muted luster, and an excellent strike despite lightly clashed dies. Near-brilliant canary-gold hue generally dominates except where a trace of greyish overtone shows, particularly on the portraits. The cataloger could find no evidence of adjustment marks -- bonus points for many type collectors.
