Gold $5-Indian Head Half Eagle
45 graded MS-65, 5 higher at NGC. Nearly in the discussion for finest-known status, the quality seen here maximizes the appeal of devastating metallic mint luster and fabulous, bright golden color. A small nick in the reverse upper right field denies even further upgrade while the obverse displays merely a whiff of roll friction on the cheekbone. An example that will prove near impossible to improve upon.

Rather decent for MS-63, some steely lavender-grey carpets the obverse, while honey-beige predominates on the reverse. Both sides appear to have mildly reflective fields as could befit an earlier strike. Trivially marked by coin-to-coin contact that does nothing to detract in the grand scheme.

Recovered from the sunken Spanish galleon, the Santa Margarita this 8 Reale coin of Philip III is set into a 14K and sterling silver bezel. The bezel features a scene of a dolphin and a patch of seaweed. This does come with a certificate of authenticity from Mel Fishers’s Treasures, LLC. with a grade of four.
