  • Lot #874 - 1804 XF details/corrosion removed
  • Large Cents-Draped Bust
  • Sheldon-266, die-state IV, the 1804 date obviously a key and even more elusive due to how many collectors pursue S-266 by die-state. For this bold example, rim breaks show plainly over RTY and MERIC. Dies are rotated by about 20 degrees for a coin that makes the cataloger's grade of [XF/corrosion removed], and the surface has been rather nicely recolored with chestnut-brown patina that has olive inflections on the reverse.

  • Lot #461 - 1883-CC PCGS XF-40
  • Hammer: $3,300
  • Gold $10-Liberty Head Eagle
  • Rustic Holidays Collection. Mintage: 12,000. Struck during the heyday of Carson City production yet showing a low mintage, the coin must have dropped during the end of die usability as the reverse features substantial orange peel effect toward the reverse rims. True as well, weak detail permeates the central obverse, ceding to slightly better definition toward the periphery.
