Half Dollars-Barber
Bravery Consignment. 4 graded PR-65 CAM, 18 higher at PCGS. An arresting gem proof, the surface displays a thin veneer of copper-gold that in no way diminishes obvious cameo contrast. Uncommon for later-date Barber proofs, the reverse shows no weakness whatsoever, not even at the juncture of the eagle's left (observed) wing. A few trivial hairlines sprint across the fields and play a minor role in the gem grade assessment.

This choice example features a reasonably original antique finish on the obverse, endowed with olive-yellow, cobalt and periwinkle-grey album toning. The reverse is basically doused in classic powder-grey patina.

The gemstone is copper and manganese bearing which may be called “Paraiba” in the trade and has a beautiful electric greenish-blue color. Length 18”, 1.1 dwt.
