Lot #177 - 1918 $50 St. Louis Fr# 831 - PMG F-15 minor repairs

Flat Creek, Missouri Collection. PMG has seen a grand total of only fifteen of Fr.831 -- not such a big surprise since St. Louis was the only district to release these FRBNs to circulation to the extent of only 4-thousand pieces. That said, the majority remain non-certified since over fifty examples are believed to currently exist. Interestingly, this note has a relatively high serial number by comparison to the very low emission. Regardless, the fact that about a quarter of all known notes are in museums means those very few that have ever been sold on the open market tend to remain impounded as a single-Friedberg type. Very decent margins surround this originally toned and choice example the "minor repairs" being closure of a couple of small edge splits.

Gold $5-Indian Head Half Eagle
17 graded MS-64+, 14 (all MS-65) higher at PCGS. The final entry into the Indian half-eagle also turns out to be one of the most difficult to obtain at the gem grade level. In some respects, 1929 could be considered the "easiest key" or the "most difficult semi-key" depending on how one delineates rarity. Probably only six other dates prove more elusive to collectors at this level.

Strong luster checks off the first item on the list of accolades, followed immediately by what appears to be unexpectedly and pleasantly original color, including medium golden iridescence joined by much grapefruit-orange accenting. A very good but not quite excellent strike is mostly responsible for all that nice energy, but the grade gets held back slightly by two tiny nicks on the brow and another smaller nick on the lip.

An 18K white gold ladies Rolex wristwatch with diamonds and a hidden watch face. The diamonds are in a swirly floral pattern and total approximately 2.00 cttw, SI1 clarity, H-I color. The movement has 1401, 10 rubies and is marked Rolex. The inside back lid is marked “Montres Rolex SA, 18 K 0.750, #2181 and G356”. The stem has a Rolex crown on it. The total length is 6 inches and there is also a safety chain on it. 25.0 dwt.
