1 graded PR-66+ UCAM, 2 higher at NGC. A spectacular example of this lower mintage proof emission from the nickel 3-cent series, this spectacular jewel, essentially superb per NGC, displays near-astounding mirrors, particularly on the reverse. More than a hint of coppery toning flashes across the obverse while the reverse seems almost perfectly pristine. An incredible proof type coin that has virtually no peers.

Fuzzy peach-grey toning carpets the obverse and affects the reverse to lesser degree. An unusually well struck 1897-O for the discriminating collector.
