  • Newcomb-2, and unusual for the date in that a very good quality planchet managed to evade the environmental effects commonly seen for 1821. What was not avoided was some mishandling during commerce that imparted a pinscratch in front of the nose and a handful more vague hairline-thin abrasions on the portrait. Fortunately, surprisingly decent eye-appeal carries the day and suggests to the cataloger an EAC estimate of F15.

  • Robert Michaels Collection. KM#267, Dav-5518, Free City of Magdeburg, Ferdinand III. A circulating commemorative issue which celebrates the reconstruction of the city. An edge chip out of the bottom of the facing side appears to be as-struck, as are the accurately depicted legends on both sides. Pewter-grey overall with olive-gold accents.
