Cheddars de Voirs Collection. A remarkable trio of California fractional gold, specifically 25-cent pieces, comprises this PCGS grouping. Included are: BG-727 (astonishingly high grade and blatantly prooflike), BG-728 (drenched in curiously lackluster greenish hue and unusually well struck), and BG-872 (rather outstanding citrus-gold on the obverse and lemon-yellow on the reverse with semi-prooflike reflectivity). Scott Laiter Collection. The Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award seems fitting for a coin that may not be necessarily inexpensive, yet still can be easy to underestimate. In this particular instance, the cataloger cannot recall seeing another example that displays such an eye-catching amount of color compressed into such a tiny presentation, especially for a relatively mundane grade. Color runs the gamut of peach-green, sunset-yellow and lavender-orange mixed throughout. Further, quality seems at worst on-par with MS-64 as the surface reveals no singularly noticeable abrasions.
