  • Lot #400 - 1842-D Large Date ANACS AU-53 details/cleaned
  • Gold $5-Liberty Head Half Eagle
  • Large date, large letters. 1842-D wrangles with 1861-D as a contender for the rarest Dahlonega half-eagle, and a high-grade survivor of any description will be in demand by astute collectors. ANACS claims this AU sharpness example to be cleaned, and indeed, glossy lemon-yellow shows across both sides, accompanied by obvious hairlines in the obverse lower right field. Perhaps as important as anything, the surface actually displays a lot fewer abrasions than typical for a southern mint gold coin.

  • Lot #890 - 1928 Oregon NGC MS-67
  • Hammer: $600
  • Silver Commemoratives-Silver Commemoratives Half-Dollars
  • Clem Stevens Collection. While not necessarily rare even in rarified air, the 1928 Oregon is that much easier to appreciate with such clean surfaces and a razor-sharp strike. An extremely faint layer of amber-tan layers the surface and has no hope of suppressing the shimmering silken luster.
