A spectacular example of this lower mintage proof emission from the nickel 3-cent series, this spectacular jewel, essentially superb per NGC, displays near-astounding mirrors, particularly on the reverse. A peculiar vapor-grey fog nearly engulfs both sides. A pattern of lines is faintly visible on Liberty’s face, possibly a result of being pressed against canvas or paper for years. Smokiness stronger on the obverse, the reverse gives way to more complexion; inner melon greens mix into sunset hues near rim.
