101st Airborne Collection. A group of Standing Liberty quarters was recently extracted from the consignor's Dansco collection, as all the other pieces are circulated. Included are: 1917-D type-2 (MS-62 and extremely original toning that looks much like mint-set patina), 1919 (UNC/FH but showing hazy surfaces), 1925 (Ch BU), 1926-D (UNC but not well struck and showing album color), and 1928 (Ch BU/FH and with attractive turquoise iridescence clinging to the devices. 74 graded MS-65 DMPL, 27 higher at PCGS. Even earlier strikes than what is seen here for 1898 have earned "UDM" at ANACS in years past but there is no question about the raving eye-appeal of this utterly prooflike example. The contrast may not be as strong as some but the portraits float over ice-water mirrors on either side. The reverse seems a trifle better detailed than the obverse, both sides being nicely struck overall.
