Mintage figures are difficult to understand, even given the initial production of 3700 pieces, since it has long been rumored that hundreds were lost after having been disposed of in Manila Bay. For the enthusiast used to the way bronze reacts with environmental effects, this is one outstanding beauty is it unquestionably glows with olive-gold and brown aspects. Pale pewter-grey layers nice and even over the whole surface, accented on high relief areas by a smidge of butterscotch. Conforming with the assigned grade, neither side clings to any meaningful luster although persistent searching will find isolated areas of frosty flowline texture inside some peripheral letters. Virtually all of the eagle's feathers are individually sculpted while Liberty's hair still shows significant bold details. One of this key's best characteristics, especially for the amount of wear, is the lack of major abrasions.
