  • Lot #784 - 1917 PCGS MS-64, 1917-D Obverse PCGS AU-58, and a 1929-D NGC MS-63
  • Half Dollars-Walking Liberty
  • Def Grapefruit Collection. A trio of Walking Liberty half-dollars matches up well despite disparate grades. Included are 1917 (unusually smooth, platinum-grey shows an interesting line of charcoal on the reverse), 1917-D (brilliant and a true "slider" unc with virtually undetectable friction), and 1929-D (strong for the grade with unexpectedly gutsy luster and minimal surface abrasions). Three coin lot.

  • Lot #365 - 1859 Old Reverse - Type 1 NGC MS-60
  • Hammer: $1,600
  • Gold $2.50-Liberty Head Quarter Eagle
  • The reverse die seen on this type-1 example, with larger arrowheads, was discarded in 1859 for subsequent strikings of type-2 quarter-eagles. Here is a rather delightful example given the basal and severely underutilized mint-state grade of MS-60, showing unexpectedly nice multihued golden color and no evidence of circulation. Simple bag storage apparently accounts for the trivial flaws and delicate abrasions seen throughout.

  • A lovely halo style ring with a 7.03x5.09x3.29mm deep red oval ruby, Stone Group Laboratories report #240827F-SJ. There is evidence of heat treatment with residues which is a common and stable industry practice. The vivid center stone is highlighted with 12 round brilliant diamonds weighing approximately .50 cttw, SI1 clarity, G-H color. Ring size 6.5, 1.9 dwt.
