Quarter Dollars-Standing Liberty
101st Airborne Collection. A group of Standing Liberty quarters was recently extracted from the consignor's Dansco collection, as all the other pieces are circulated. Included are: 1917-D type-2 (MS-62 and extremely original toning that looks much like mint-set patina), 1919 (UNC/FH but showing hazy surfaces), 1925 (Ch BU), 1926-D (UNC but not well struck and showing album color), and 1928 (Ch BU/FH and with attractive turquoise iridescence clinging to the devices. Newcomb-9, a somewhat common die-marriage that can show up in various interesting die-states. The NGC insert covers up a portion of the rim where a small cud eventually develops but it isn't readily apparent in this instance. The glossy ebony-brown surface is actually not as unattractive as is often implied by the MS-61 numeric grade level, and neither side displays much by way of contact.
