Gold $2.50-Indian Head Quarter Eagle
Strong mintmark -- indeed about as bold of a "D" as one will ever find on this key quarter-eagle. So early seems to be the die-state that one wished it would be possible to view the edge outside of the gloopy PCGS insert. Both sides exhibit diminished luster, perhaps because of denser carrot-gold patina, and a staccato pinscratch sneaks down the forward part of the Indian's headdress, assuredly helping to determine the grade.

Aficionados will quickly appreciate the mintmark repunched south and the die rust always seen on the lower portrait. Deeper corn-gold accents layer atop highpoint rub while brighter yellow gold shines from the better protected areas. A pinscratch will be seen at the extreme upper reverse.

Circa 1960/1970, this overly large sterling silver (tested, not marked) and chrysocolla squash blossom necklace features 10 blossoms set between seamed beads and a 7-stone Naja at the bottom. With an overly bold design, the stone used in the making emulates a darker grade of turquoise than usually found in this type of necklace. Condition is very nice for its age with a vintage patina to the metal. Unsigned piece so tribal affiliation is unknown. Length 26”, 8.40 troy ounces.
