  • Lot #874 - 1804 XF details/corrosion removed
  • Large Cents-Draped Bust
  • Sheldon-266, die-state IV, the 1804 date obviously a key and even more elusive due to how many collectors pursue S-266 by die-state. For this bold example, rim breaks show plainly over RTY and MERIC. Dies are rotated by about 20 degrees for a coin that makes the cataloger's grade of [XF/corrosion removed], and the surface has been rather nicely recolored with chestnut-brown patina that has olive inflections on the reverse.

  • Lot #379 - 1907 NGC MS-67
  • Hammer: $1,800
  • Gold $2.50-Liberty Head Quarter Eagle
  • While common even at MS-67, a crisply struck and dazzling quarter-eagle will always be a treat for the eyes when competently graded, as is the case here. Sparkling luster dance around the results of a high-definition strike to great advantage. Varieties have not been well studied for the series but the cataloger notes some "stuff" within zero of the date that could be of interest.
