Gold $5-Indian Head Half Eagle
Blazing with nearly blinding, matte luster, the surface looks up and down every bit of gem to the observer. It's tough to tell what exactly denied upgrade, but perhaps a small nick at left of the chin caught a grader's eye. Or the graders all got egged and were in a very bad mood that day.

Robert Michaels Collection. Newcomb-7, a slightly less common variety for 1856 showing upright digits in the date. Glorious and blatantly choice Hershey-brown blankets the surface and manifests decent luster despite the vintage patina. Design elements are beautifully struck and the whole coin has successfully dodged even small contact marks.

There is a nice mix of colors in this Le Vian ring centering on a 9x7mm reddish-purple rhodolite garnet with a halo of white round brilliant diamonds weighing approximately .25 cttw, SI clarity, H color with champagne round diamond accents as well. Ring size 5.5, 3.3 dwt.
