Quarter Dollars-Standing Liberty
101st Airborne Collection. A group of Standing Liberty quarters was recently extracted from the consignor's Dansco collection, as all the other pieces are circulated. Included are: 1917-D type-2 (MS-62 and extremely original toning that looks much like mint-set patina), 1919 (UNC/FH but showing hazy surfaces), 1925 (Ch BU), 1926-D (UNC but not well struck and showing album color), and 1928 (Ch BU/FH and with attractive turquoise iridescence clinging to the devices. Often found cut a little askew, this particularly bright example has been almost ideally centered and squared properly when viewed from either side, which means the back of the note is as appealing as the front. Signatures were stamped a little high but are as bold and deep black as can be. A "small tear" as called out by PMG only just barely requires mention because it technically touches a portion of the design (the border line) else it would escape notice. Not mentioned is a tiny dab of greenish residue positioned below the offending "tear" -- the cataloger speculates a staple may have been professionally removed from the edge at some point.
