  • Lot #874 - 1804 XF details/corrosion removed
  • Large Cents-Draped Bust
  • Sheldon-266, die-state IV, the 1804 date obviously a key and even more elusive due to how many collectors pursue S-266 by die-state. For this bold example, rim breaks show plainly over RTY and MERIC. Dies are rotated by about 20 degrees for a coin that makes the cataloger's grade of [XF/corrosion removed], and the surface has been rather nicely recolored with chestnut-brown patina that has olive inflections on the reverse.

  • Lot #414 - 1878 PCGS MS-64+ CAC
  • Hammer: $5,500
  • Gold $3-Indian Princess Head
  • THE common entry for the three dollar gold piece, 1878 most often serves type purposes near the gem grade level. That said, this is an exceptional example for MS-64+, utterly filled with tortoise-shell luster patterns and dominated by beautiful, fresh medium golden color. A small copper spot escapes between the first two digits of the date.
