Cheddars de Voirs Collection. A remarkable trio of California fractional gold, specifically 25-cent pieces, comprises this PCGS grouping. Included are: BG-727 (astonishingly high grade and blatantly prooflike), BG-728 (drenched in curiously lackluster greenish hue and unusually well struck), and BG-872 (rather outstanding citrus-gold on the obverse and lemon-yellow on the reverse with semi-prooflike reflectivity). Lot #333 - 1852-D Rotated Dies PCGS AU-55

Misaligned dies are common to the 1852-D, this one struck practically in medallic alignment. Overall, this also appears to be a decently struck example, albeit the dies came together on the usual substandard planchet that seems to have plagued Dahlonega. Lemon-gold hue and clashing and die-cracks meet expectations for this issue.
