Aliyah Darnell Collection. Formerly considered rare, 1909-S can now be readily found even in MS-64 due to a Central American hoard dispersed a few decades ago. Grand National Collection. L&M-77A, KM#329.6, fine hair portrait. Modestly lustrous and showing very little actual wear, although friction hairlines flutter into sight here and there under a good lamp. Reddish-blonde patina dominates the obverse, relieved in areas by pale grey splashes, while the reverse shows a nicer ebony-crimson crescent of toning along the upper left.
