  • Lot #876 - 1814 Crosslet 4 XF
  • Large Cents-Classic Head
  • Cochrane Gambit Consignment. Sheldon-294, crosslet 4, early dies. A remarkably sharp strike invoked pinpoint accurate details from the dies, with denticles that would have been fully delineated if not for a slightly off-center presentation. Several small nicks on and in front of the neck are of no problematic consequence at the cataloger's grade [XF/altered surface], but observers will note an unusually low-contrast, ultra-fine matte surface on both sides. An unexpectedly appealing classic head example despite any potential modest faults.

  • Lot #540 - 1905-S PCGS MS-61
  • Hammer: $2,400
  • Gold $20-Liberty Head Double Eagle
  • Blazing gem luster powers the eye-appeal, alas forfeiting higher grade consideration to widespread abrading and delicate hairlining on both sides. A booming, almost glistening example of this common date.
