There are nine examples of this short-lived series in this group lot that includes the following: an 1876 (AU details, cleaned), 4x 1877 (XF), 3x 1877-S (XF details, cleaned), and an 1878-S (F). VAM-3, and in this die-state, perhaps most easily recognized by noticing a small pile of schmutz beneath "18" in the date. Although visibly characterized by solid cameo effect, the fields are not nearly reflective enough to warrant a designation, showing instead dynamic windmill action over smooth, ice-laden frost. Delectable orange rim toning adds to the near-gem visual appeal. Not quite as fully struck as some examples.
