A group of Standing Liberty quarters was recently extracted from the consignor's Dansco collection, as all the other pieces are circulated. Included are: 1917-D type-2 (MS-62 and extremely original toning that looks much like mint-set patina), 1919 (UNC/FH but showing hazy surfaces), 1925 (Ch BU), 1926-D (UNC but not well struck and showing album color), and 1928 (Ch BU/FH and with attractive turquoise iridescence clinging to the devices. Half Dollars-Liberty Seated
Off a low mintage of about 6-thousand, close to a sixth were proof strikings, although the date is famous for circulation strikes that seemingly exceed the qualities of sister proofs. That said, the cataloger can find no reason at all for NGC to deny a cameo designation given wall-to-wall mirrors and ample frosted texture on the devices. A deeply impressed example showing a whisper of softness at Liberty's forehead.
