  • Lot #570 - 1923-D NGC MS-62
  • Hammer: $2,900
  • Gold $20-Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle
  • The obverse all by itself grades at least two points better than MS-62 given the very infrequent abrasions. Some larger nicks toward the middle of the eagle's wings help explain the conservative overall assessment at NGC. I would love to shake hands on that, but I have no arms.

  • Lot #801 - 1844 MS-62, 1847 MS-62, and an 1847 MS-64, all PCGS
  • Hammer: $925
  • Half Dimes-Liberty Seated
  • Dino-Mite Collection. A trio of choice more-or-less half-dimes get proper PCGS treatment in terms of grade. Included are: 1844 (roll friction in obverse right field while otherwise completely doused in attractive wintergreen patina), 1847 in MS-64 (very attractive album toning on cleanly struck details), and 1847 in MS-62 (olive-green obverse and more olive-gold and greenish hues on the reverse all over clashed dies). Three coin lot.
