  • Lot #855 - Collection of Buffalo nickels in a complete Dansco 7112 album

  • Cris Lindy-Ping Collection. Painstaking effort and time were obviously poured into the assembling of this complete collection of Buffalo nickels that is housed in a Dansco album. Grades range from Very fine through Choice Uncirculated and includes the following notable examples: a 1913 Type 1 (BU), a 1913 Type 2 (XF+), a 1913-D Type 1 (AU), a 1913-D Type 2 (AU+), a 1913-S Type 1 (BU), a 1913-S Type 2 (VF), a 1914 (AU), a 1914-D (BU), a 1914-S (AU), a 1915 (AU+), a 1915-D (AU++), a 1915-S (XF++), a 1916 (AU), a 1916-D (VF), a 1916-S (XF, cleaned), a 1917 (BU), a 1917-D (XF, cleaned), a 1917-S (VF), a 1918-D (VF), a 1918-S (AU+), a 1919 (BU), a 1919-D (AU, cleaned), a 1919-S (AU, cleaned), a 1920 (AU), a 1920-D (XF), a 1920-S (AU), a 1921 (AU++), a 1921-S (XF), a 1923-S (XF+), a 1924 (BU), a 1924-D 9BU), a 1924-S (VF+), a 1925-S (VF), a 1926-D (BU), a 1926-S (XF), a 1927-D (XF+), a 1927-S (AU), a 1928-D (BU), a 1928-S (BU), and a 1937-D Three Legged (AU+). Several other examples litter the 1930’s with AU and BU issues that really round out this terrific set (ck).

  • Lot #365 - 1859 Old Reverse - Type 1 NGC MS-60
  • Hammer: $1,600
  • Gold $2.50-Liberty Head Quarter Eagle
  • The reverse die seen on this type-1 example, with larger arrowheads, was discarded in 1859 for subsequent strikings of type-2 quarter-eagles. Here is a rather delightful example given the basal and severely underutilized mint-state grade of MS-60, showing unexpectedly nice multihued golden color and no evidence of circulation. Simple bag storage apparently accounts for the trivial flaws and delicate abrasions seen throughout.
