Quarter Dollars-Standing Liberty
101st Airborne Collection. A group of Standing Liberty quarters was recently extracted from the consignor's Dansco collection, as all the other pieces are circulated. Included are: 1917-D type-2 (MS-62 and extremely original toning that looks much like mint-set patina), 1919 (UNC/FH but showing hazy surfaces), 1925 (Ch BU), 1926-D (UNC but not well struck and showing album color), and 1928 (Ch BU/FH and with attractive turquoise iridescence clinging to the devices. A superior quality planchet shows none of the usual alloy problems that plague 1921-S and the strike off of better dies yielded bold details, including a fully delineated horn. The only complaint the cataloger could register would be a slightly excessive supply of sharp abrasions over the bison's back and beneath his belly -- but hey, this IS a 1921-S after all and one can overlook such anomalies in light of the very good production quality.
