Assuredly prooflike when struck, the delicate quality of the reflective fields unfortunately exaggerates the presence of numerous feathery hairlines that gave rise to the PCGS "cleaned" disclaimer. That said, considerable detail remains, on par with AU-53/5, and therefore providing impetus for a vigorous bid.

Scott Laiter Collection. Although thousands of 1891-CC tens exist today in certified mint-state grade (out of a mintage of over 100-thousand pieces), the date remains very popular with collectors and has shown little sign of price softness in current markets. Here is a rock-solid MS-62 example that triumphs with booming luster and a sharp, near-complete strike. Quality gets marred only by a fair number of the minute abrasions typical of the grade, but not a'one requires special mention.
