101st Airborne Collection. A group of Standing Liberty quarters was recently extracted from the consignor's Dansco collection, as all the other pieces are circulated. Included are: 1917-D type-2 (MS-62 and extremely original toning that looks much like mint-set patina), 1919 (UNC/FH but showing hazy surfaces), 1925 (Ch BU), 1926-D (UNC but not well struck and showing album color), and 1928 (Ch BU/FH and with attractive turquoise iridescence clinging to the devices. Nickel Three-Cent Pieces-Nickel Three-Cent Pieces
5 graded PR-67+ CAM, 6 higher at NGC. Unlike many overdipped examples, the surface exhibits traces of bone-grey patina that only emphasizes tremendous cameo effect. The grade might reach for "finest known" candidacy if not for a slender linear abrasion beneath the chin -- the only evidence of contact that can readily be found with a loupe.
