More available than the "large date" logotype but still hardly common given the mintage of under 60-thousand pieces. The pale, lackluster surface displays a thin coating of haze that helps subdue any potential remaining luster. Strike quality seems to be about as nice as is ever seen for 1842-D.

Inevitably, the pre-strike abrasions that always appear on Washington's cheek, no matter what the grade, will show up under a loupe but the surface otherwise remains phenomenally immune from contact and seems fully original.
