  • Lot #874 - 1804 XF details/corrosion removed
  • Large Cents-Draped Bust
  • Sheldon-266, die-state IV, the 1804 date obviously a key and even more elusive due to how many collectors pursue S-266 by die-state. For this bold example, rim breaks show plainly over RTY and MERIC. Dies are rotated by about 20 degrees for a coin that makes the cataloger's grade of [XF/corrosion removed], and the surface has been rather nicely recolored with chestnut-brown patina that has olive inflections on the reverse.

  • Lot #386 - 1909 PCGS MS-65
  • Hammer: $4,800
  • Gold $2.50-Indian Head Quarter Eagle
  • Much scarcer as a gem than 1908 or 1910 the 1909 does often get nicer production quality as exhibited by this superbly struck example. Consistently attractive and unblemished ultra-fine matte frost lays over the entire surface and valiantly attempts to emulate the inimitable appearance of a matte proof. A fabulous coin with everything going for it at the assigned grade.
