Collector Lots-Proof Sets
Any collector of early United States proof sets can tell you just how difficult it has become to find these sets “out in the wild”. A consecutive run of five such sets from 1938 through 1942 fill this group lot. Each of these sets are carefully housed in a Capital plastics holder and offers superb quality. Nearly all of the silver issues offer trace amounts of light toning while the nickels and cents show slightly higher degrees of toning that is typical for the type. There is very little question to the natural integrity of each of these sets (ck).

Pacific Coast Highway Collection. A pair of Italy issues. Included are: 1877-R 5-lire, KM#8.4 (lustrous pewter-grey that includes mossy golden hues at the periphery; one of the most counterfeited coins in the world by some accounts), and 1881-R 2 lire, KM#23 (rare in such high certified grade and significantly prooflike despite a blanket of smoke-blue and ebony-chartreuse toning). Although this peice may not tell the time anymore, this spectacular vintage watch could definitely be worn as a bracelet! The petite piece features an approximate .50 ct. square emerald cut on either side, SI clarity, H color with another estimated 1.25 cttw in single cut and European cut round diamonds, SI clarity, H-I color. The diamonds are accompanied by royal blue synthetic French cut sapphires and what appear to be natural rectangular blue sapphires. There is a safety chain that runs from the watch to the clasp on either side. Length 6”, 16.7 dwt.
