Early United States mint sets are among the most difficult items to find in their original condition and packaging. There are five such issues here that includes a 1949, a 1951, a 1952, a 1954, and a 1957. Each of these are still in their original cardboard sleeves and envelopes as well. Wispy and dusty tones cling to all of the surfaces of each issue within each set lending even further evidence to these particular set’s originality. 64 graded AU-50, 81 higher at PCGS. Even wear takes away from what were probably slightly flashing surfaces when struck. The large date logotype is the more common of the two subvarieties for 1850, but either way, 1850 is a better early date within the series.
