Gold $5-Liberty Head Half Eagle
Bravery Consignment. Mintage: 36,400. 11 graded AU-55, 7 higher at PCGS. Rare in all certified grades, as one might guess from the low San Francisco mintage. Just thin patina layers over most of what was likely a semi-prooflike example upon striking. Orange splashes and several tiny, sharper abrasions emerge on the obverse.

Lot #363 - 1856 CACG MS-64

Gold $2.50-Liberty Head Quarter Eagle
Although not rare overall as a date, the 1856, like any earlier half-eagle, jumps into the arena of scarcity above lower mint-state grades, and this is an interesting piece for reasons other than just grade. Taken off of strongly clashed dies, the obverse die was nicely lapped while the reverse die still retains a full silhouette of Liberty as well as a forming retained cud above TAT on the reverse. The surface shows a surprising amount of overall abrading for MS-64 but also offers attractive vintage color and velvety luster.

A simple solitaire style pendant affixed to a dainty cable link chain with a 6.15x4.65x3.50mm brilliant cut oval tourmaline, GIA report #5231280599. The gemstone is copper and manganese bearing which may be called “Paraiba” in the trade and has a beautiful electric greenish-blue color. Length 18”, 1.1 dwt.
