  • Lot #878 - 1819/18 XF
  • Hammer: $725
  • Large Cents-Liberty Head
  • Newcomb-1. Cataloger's grade: [XF/trace corrosion] as can be seen by a little bit of buildup within the final four stars. It's quite possible the surface can be conserved to reveal a very nice example as the surface overall exhibits pleasing cocoa-brown and faint, waxy steel highlights. The reverse appears basically unsusceptible to abrasions while fewer than a handful of tiny marks land on the obverse.

  • Lot #3 - Roman Empire - Brutus (44-42 BC) stater - NGC Choice Uncirculated
  • Hammer: $2,100
  • Ancient Coins-Roman Empire
  • Pacific Coast Highway Collection. OBV: Roman consul walking left accompanied by two lictors. REV: eagle facing left stands on scepter clutching laurel wreath in right talon. That ancient technology was capable of such detail on both sides of a coin nearly defies belief. While struck perhaps 15% off-center, the flan still somehow received flowline effect very much similar to modern cartwheel luster.
