Included are: 1899 (steamy patina over gorgeous golden hue and enjoying a fantastic strike), and 1932 (the usual very good strike complemented by confident luster, although a few tiny greenish verdigris dots must be noted). Gold $2.50-Classic Head Quarter Eagle
6 graded MS-63, 16 higher at NGC. With 47-thousand pieces struck off a single pair of dies, it's no wonder early strikes can be somewhat prooflike, whereas this mid/later die-state example features smoothly frosted surface texture yet still retains a smidge of flashy aspect. An excellent strike popped up deeply sculpted peripheral stars on the obverse, as well as extremely intricate details on the eagle's claws. After nearly two centuries, the surface offers bright, pale lemon-gold hue with no distractions. The grade appears to be constrained by limited, but visible stray hairlines within each of the major fields
