Lot #877 - 1816 Newcomb-2 PCGS UNC details/scratch(BN)

Large Cents-Liberty Head
Newcomb-2 and die-state C/B featuring rim breaks at the obverse upper right as well as a die line extending right over the top of "OF" on the reverse. As a Randall Hoard survivor, numerous UNC examples exist, this example typically mellowed to rich brown hue with later-developing steely bluish overtones. An old pinscratch over the lower third of the obverse requires mention.

Gold $10-Liberty Head Eagle
49 graded MS-63, 10 higher at NGC. Much of the mintage of 112,771 pieces must have been set aside because 1903-O seems to be the most common New Orleans eagle. Seen here is the classic satiny luster that somehow also portrays coarse subtexture throughout. A pleasing khaki-gold example that appears to be highly original.
