101st Airborne Collection. A group of Standing Liberty quarters was recently extracted from the consignor's Dansco collection, as all the other pieces are circulated. Included are: 1917-D type-2 (MS-62 and extremely original toning that looks much like mint-set patina), 1919 (UNC/FH but showing hazy surfaces), 1925 (Ch BU), 1926-D (UNC but not well struck and showing album color), and 1928 (Ch BU/FH and with attractive turquoise iridescence clinging to the devices. Gold $2.50-Liberty Head Quarter Eagle
Mintage: 23,294. 14 graded MS-61, 9 higher at NGC. Delicately abraded overall and showing feathery hairlines in the fields, original as-struck flashy character remains visible nevertheless. A relatively poor survival rate amplifies the effects of lower mintage, making the 1849 an unheralded scarcity at the mint-state grade level.
