Quarter Dollars-Standing Liberty
101st Airborne Collection. A group of Standing Liberty quarters was recently extracted from the consignor's Dansco collection, as all the other pieces are circulated. Included are: 1917-D type-2 (MS-62 and extremely original toning that looks much like mint-set patina), 1919 (UNC/FH but showing hazy surfaces), 1925 (Ch BU), 1926-D (UNC but not well struck and showing album color), and 1928 (Ch BU/FH and with attractive turquoise iridescence clinging to the devices. Half Dollars-Capped Bust, Lettered Edge
Overton-109a can be quickly attributed by noting a heavy die crack through AMERICA, diagnostic also of the die-state. The borders for this dynamic, near mint example feature highly attractive album toning painted in lavender-orange, russet-gold and ocean-blue colors. Substantial luster dominates the fields but as expected, it disappears within the widest expanses due to finger wear. The cataloger notes a few unimportant pinscratches over the eagle's beak and a trio of minor linear abrasions in front of the portrait.
