  • Lot #462 - 1897-O PCGS MS-61
  • Gold $10-Liberty Head Eagle
  • Mintage: 42,500. Heavier abrasions thump the reverse while overall, both sides show a number of the bagmarks expected of the date. 1897-O is not actually rare despite the lower mintage, but certified mint-state examples prove difficult to find at PCGS. A glittering example with occasional greyish crumbles that suggest a non-cleaned surface.

  • Lot #455 - 1914-D PCGS MS-63+
  • Hammer: $2,400
  • Gold $5-Indian Head Half Eagle
  • Superb color and an absolutely tremendous strike probably lead to a "plus" for this blatantly choice and pleasing half-eagle. Roll friction shows on the Indian's cheekbone while fine matte texture resides in the sunken relief areas.
