  • Lot #656 - 1881-CC NGC MS-63 DPL
  • Hammer: $975
  • Silver Dollar-Morgan
  • M. J. Shole Collection. VAM-3, and obviously an extremely early die-state, because not only did the coin instantly qualify for DMPL by NGC's very stringent standards, but the cataloger would suggest that the mirrors are just off UDCAM properties. Reflectivity seems accurate to at least three feet, suggesting this could have been one of the first few dozen examples to fall off the dies. Very little chatter disturbs those wonderful fields but a few inescapable linear scuffs on the cheek inadvertently leak into the fields to determine the conservative grade.

  • Lot #436 - 1893-CC PCGS AU-58
  • Hammer: $2,600
  • Gold $5-Liberty Head Half Eagle
  • Rustic Holidays Collection. A brassy example of the final emission of five-dollar gold pieces from Carson City, this borderline UNC examples has bountiful minute contact marks on each side, along with a hint of touch friction. While sometimes found prooflike, chances are the coin was struck off the tail end of production as it shows consistent frosted texture throughout.
