  • Lot #708 - 1879 PCGS MS-66
  • Half Dollars-Liberty Seated
  • Mintage: 4800. 50 graded MS-66, 33 higher at PCGS. The first year of extremely limited mintages out of Philadelphia, the 1879 has the added difficulty of distinguishing true proof examples from the plethora of fully prooflike coins that prevail for the date. In this case, however, there can be zero doubt as to proper attribution because this gleaming, satin-white very -gem coin also features the extensive frosty texture seen for sure only on circulation strikes. Pinpoint-accurate details show everywhere except at the left talon, where segmentation did not quite get struck up to perfection. Stunningly clean surfaces exhibit zero mentionable contact marks.

  • Sandra Wilson Algiers Estate. The early years of the Chinese panda silver bullion issues were far lower mintages as the consumer demand was not nearly as strong as it is in today’s market. There are ten nearly flawless 1992 large date 1oz. Chinese silver pandas that still reside in their original and uncut plastic sheet. New old stock of these early year issues are nearly impossible to find making this particular sheet a highly sought after commodity (ck).
