Bravery Consignment. 4 graded PR-65 CAM, 18 higher at PCGS. An arresting gem proof, the surface displays a thin veneer of copper-gold that in no way diminishes obvious cameo contrast. Uncommon for later-date Barber proofs, the reverse shows no weakness whatsoever, not even at the juncture of the eagle's left (observed) wing. A few trivial hairlines sprint across the fields and play a minor role in the gem grade assessment.

They struck a five-dollar coin in Benicia City, a suburb of San Francisco, and these very rare coins are avidly sought by collectors today. NGC grades this reddish-gold five as MS-61, likely reflecting in part a rather weak strike as well as delicately hairlined fields.
